Dr. Richard N. Mattis, M.D., joined NWSH after working at the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. He grew up in North Idaho and, after earning his bachelor’s degree at Washington State University, he went on to earn his M.D. from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1997. He has been in practice for over two decades.
Dr. Mattis has expertise in family medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, and the treatment of addiction, and is active in the medical community for working with addiction problems. Family medicine involves treating both children and adults for a variety of health conditions, as well as performing regular check-ups as a primary care physician. Dr. Mattis is licensed to practice in Maryland, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon, and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine, Addiction Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Idaho Academy of Family Physicians, and American Society of Addiction Medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Mattis enjoys cycling, skiing, hunting, fishing, and generally getting outside and staying active.
