Northwest Specialty Hospital provides our patients a dedicated hospitalist who is an experienced, advanced practice provider responsible for coordinating your entire episode of care and ensuring that you have the best outcome possible. The hospitalist service line is exclusively dedicated to caring for surgical patients at Northwest Specialty Hospital during your stay with us.
Our hospitalists will thoroughly evaluate your risk factors prior to your surgical procedure in coordination with our pre-operative department and surgical team to assess your condition. Following your procedure they will closely monitor your recovery and coordinate your care plan by ensuring that you, your family and your care team at Northwest understand what to do to give you the care you need while you stay with us.

John Stackow, MD
Hospitalist
Dr. Stackow has practiced in North Idaho for over 15 years, specializing in management of surgical diseases of the abdomen, breast and hernias with particular interest in laparoscopic surgery. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame and completed his medical education at New York University and St. Vincent Medical Center in New York City. He is a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Stackow grew up in Wappinger Falls, NY and been married to Lori for 15 years. Their children are Tessa, Madeline and Tucker. The enjoy camping, boating, skiing, and other outdoor activities North Idaho has to offer.

Adam A. Marfice is a board-certified Physician Assistant. He graduated with honors from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a special focus on epidemiology. Adam then attended Idaho State University where he received his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Adam’s clinical interests include orthopedic spine and neurosurgery.
Adam is a native of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. In his spare time you can probably find him coaching high school lacrosse or fly fishing on one of the local rivers.
